At patient’s initial appointment take the client’s medical history, evaluate the symptoms and develop a rehabilitation plan that aligns with the client’s personal needs and goals. 


This will include:



  • Teaching the client different functional tasks and exercises intended to strengthen and/or stretch muscles as well as alleviate pain.

  • Diagnosing movement dysfunction and developing a treatment plan

  • Teaching patients how to properly use therapeutic exercise techniques

  • Use of pain-relieving modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, moist heat/cold applications appropriately.

  • Assisting patients with the use of equipment such as wheelchairs or walkers

  • Maintaining patient records and keeping track of goals and progress

  • Writing progress notes and discharge summaries

  • Using outcome measures as a means of measurement of client’s progress

  • Providing home exercise programs

  • Communicating with home care provider methods of assisting the client with transfers and home exercises.
