Physiotherapy Association of Trinidad and Tobago celebrates national Physiotherapy Awareness Month.
World Physical Therapy Day falls on 8 September every year, and is an opportunity for physical therapists from all over the world to raise awareness about the crucial contribution their profession makes to keeping people well, mobile and independent.
The Physiotherapy Association of Trinidad and Tobago is the sole association that represents physiotherapists /physical therapists in Trinidad and Tobago. It has been in existence for over 40 years. We joined the World Confederation for Physical Therapy officially in 1999.
Annually we come together to celebrate that life has allowed us the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. In our places of worship and/or in our quiet times of reflection, we stand in solidarity recognizing that Source provides.
World Physical Therapy Day 2019 is focused on Chronic Pain and the role that physical therapy/ Physiotherapy and physical activity can have in helping people manage chronic pain.
How do we help?
Exercise is one of the major keys to unlocking the grip-hold of chronic pain on some of our lives.
Physiotherapists in their role as exercise experts encourage you to take part in more intentional physical activity now!
Get educated this month at some of our information events
Participate in an exercise class or activity session
Try parking or stopping off (public transport) a little further away from your normal spot so you take a few steps more that day
Walk outside for a few minutes before you eat a meal especially if you are at home or inside at work
Take the stairs rather than the elevator
What can you look forward to with this?
By using these opportunities to move a little more, you can:
-maintain flexibility and movement
-improve cardiovascular health
-build and keep muscle tone
-improve mood and general wellbeing
-help control pain
-increase confidence to take part in activities
YOU can take back control of your life and reduce your fear!
We are reminded once more of our international push and overarching theme "Movement for Life!"
Let us all live that theme! Don't let it be just a dream.
